Legal & Terms of Use

This page and the terms it describes were last updated on 10 September 2026.

This document is provided in good faith as general terms for the software and online service described below. It is not legal advice. Laws and obligations (including consumer, data-protection and liability rules) differ between countries, states and regions. You are responsible for ensuring your use is lawful where you are. Depending on where you live, some limitations in this document may not apply to you, and nothing here limits rights that cannot be excluded by law. If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, California or another U.S. state, additional privacy rights described in sections 8.1 to 8.4 may apply to you.

1. The Service

My Dashboard is a personalised dashboard application that displays clocks, time zones and local weather, stock prices, news feeds, quotes, shortcuts and reminders ("the Service"). The Service is provided online and may be accessed from a compatible web browser on your own devices.

2. Adults Only

The Service is intended only for adults. By using the Service you confirm that you are at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in the country, state or region in which you access it, whichever is higher. If you are under this age, you must not use the Service. Where the Service is used by more than one person on a device, the person who controls the device is responsible for ensuring that use complies with these terms.

3. Access, Licences and Devices

  • Use of the Service is free unless you hold a licence code ("Licence").
  • A Licence permits the person it was issued to to use the Service on up to five (5) devices at the same time.
  • Licences are issued by the operator of the Service at its discretion and may be revoked at any time, with or without notice.
  • You may not sell, rent, share, transfer or otherwise redistribute a Licence to any other person, except to the same individual on their own devices.
  • You must not attempt to exceed the device limit, or circumvent any access or usage restrictions, including by generating, guessing or reusing licence codes not issued to you.
  • Any feature of the Service may change, be limited or be removed at any time without notice.

4. No Warranty

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, timeliness and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure or available at all times, or that any content, price, quote, news item or weather reading will be complete or correct. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, no warranty of any kind is given.

5. No Liability for Lost or Corrupted Data

You are responsible for your own data. Settings and content are stored in your browser and, when you enable cloud sync, in the Service's backing storage. We accept no responsibility, and to the maximum extent permitted by law shall not be liable, for any loss, corruption, deletion, unavailability or theft of your data, however caused, including by failure of the Service, its hosting providers, networks, your own devices, browser storage clearing, software updates, user error, or unauthorised access to any device or account you use with the Service. You should keep your own backups. There is no guarantee that any backup or restore feature, where offered, will function or be retained.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall we, our operators, affiliates, employees or suppliers be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or business opportunities, arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Without limiting the foregoing, our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim (if anything). Nothing in this section limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded under the law of your country, state or region.

7. No Financial, Investment or Other Advice

Stock prices, price changes, news, quotes and any other information shown by the Service are provided for general information only and do not constitute financial, investment, tax, legal, medical or other professional advice. Markets may be delayed, incorrect or out of date and can fall as well as rise. You are solely responsible for any decisions you make in reliance on information shown by the Service. If you need advice, consult a suitably qualified professional.

8. Data, Privacy and Security

What we hold is deliberately minimal. We store the dashboard settings you choose to save and, when cloud sync is enabled, a licence code, a randomly generated device identifier, the time of your last save, and a record of which device and browser type saved it. We do not use advertising cookies, advertising identifiers, tracking pixels or cross-site trackers, and the Service relies on your browser's local storage rather than on server-side tracking. Your settings are yours: you can export, import or delete them at any time.

  • No "sale" of personal information: we do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising or any advertising purpose, anywhere in the world.
  • Your saved settings may themselves contain personal data that you enter, such as reminder titles or event details. That data is stored and synced only because you ask us to.
  • Your settings travel over the public internet to and from the Service and its hosting provider, and to the third-party services in section 9 to obtain the data you request. Transmissions are not guaranteed to be private or error-free.
  • Retention: we keep synced settings (and a short-term backup copy) only for as long as your licence is active or you ask us to delete them. You may delete your synced data at any time from the dashboard.
  • You must keep your licence code and any access credentials confidential. If you believe a code or device is compromised, contact the Service operator so the affected devices can be revoked.
  • Children: the Service is adults-only (section 2). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (COPPA) or under any minimum age set by local law.

8.1 If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom (GDPR and UK GDPR)

  • Controller: the operator of the Service, identified where you obtained your licence, is the controller for the personal data described in this section 8.
  • Legal bases (Article 6 GDPR): performance of the contract with you (Article 6(1)(b)) for providing and syncing the Service; our legitimate interest in security and abuse prevention (Article 6(1)(f)); and consent where we ask for it.
  • Your rights: access, rectification, erasure ("right to be forgotten"), restriction, data portability and objection, as well as the right not to be subject to decisions based solely on automated processing. The Service does not use automated decision-making.
  • International transfers: your data is stored with our hosting provider, which may involve transfers outside the EEA or the UK. Where such transfers occur, we rely on appropriate safeguards under the GDPR, such as the EU or UK standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.
  • Complaints: you may lodge a complaint with your local data-protection supervisory authority (for example, the UK Information Commissioner's Office), without prejudice to any other remedy available to you.
  • Timeframe: we respond to requests without undue delay and, in principle, within one (1) month, subject to the extensions permitted by law.

8.2 If you are in California (CCPA / CPRA)

  • No sale or sharing: we do not "sell" or "share" personal information as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, and we do not engage in cross-context behavioural advertising or targeted advertising. Because there is no sale or sharing, no "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" opt-out link is offered (there is nothing to opt out of), and no processing limitation request is required for the data we hold.
  • Categories of personal information collected: identifiers (a randomly generated device identifier and, if you use cloud sync, a licence code) and any personal information you yourself choose to store in your dashboard settings, which remains under your control.
  • Your rights: (i) to know and access the categories and purposes of processing, (ii) to correct, (iii) to delete personal information (twice per twelve-month period), (iv) to non-discrimination for exercising your rights, and (v) to information about disclosures under California Civil Code section 1798.83 ("Shine the Light"). We do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing.
  • Making a request: use the contact details in section 15 with the subject line "Privacy Request (CCPA)". We will verify your identity, for example by confirming your licence code and device, before acting. You may exercise these rights yourself or through a properly authorised agent.
  • Timeframe: we respond within forty-five (45) days; this may be extended by a further forty-five (45) days with notice, as permitted by the CCPA.
  • Minors: we do not knowingly collect or sell the personal information of consumers under 16, and the Service is adults-only (section 2).

8.3 Cookie and similar technologies policy

  • No cookies from us: the Service's own servers set no cookies at all. Verified operationally, our site serves no "Set-Cookie" headers on any page, file or API response. We therefore have no cookie-consent banner: there are no non-essential cookies for us to ask consent for.
  • Local storage is not a cookie: the Service stores your dashboard settings in your browser's local storage - site data kept on your device, sent to our server only when you use cloud sync. This storage is strictly necessary to provide the Service you requested (it restores your dashboard between visits) and is not a cookie, and the fonts used by the Service are served from our own servers.
  • Direct third-party hosts: your browser may contact the following third parties directly when you use certain features, namely Open-Meteo (geocoding-api.open-meteo.com and api.open-meteo.com) for weather, ZenQuotes (zenquotes.io) for the quote of the day, and rss2json (api.rss2json.com) to parse news feeds. These providers may set their own cookies or similar technologies under their own policies, which you should review on their websites; we do not control their cookies.
  • Server-side proxying: stock prices, site favicons and image proxies are retrieved by our servers on your behalf, so the cookies of those providers do not reach your browser.
  • Strictly necessary data and ePrivacy: where European and UK ePrivacy rules (for example the EU ePrivacy Directive, Article 5(3), and the UK PECR) require consent before storing anything that is not strictly necessary, we will obtain your consent before storing such data.
  • Future changes: if optional (non-essential) cookies or similar technologies are ever added, we will first describe what is stored and why and require your consent before activating them. You can always control, block or delete cookies and site data using your browser's settings, including private or incognito mode. If you block or clear local storage, the Service remains usable but your settings may not persist in that browser.

8.4 If you are elsewhere in the United States

If your state's privacy law grants you rights - for example in Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Montana, Oregon or Delaware, or any other U.S. state with applicable privacy legislation - including rights to access, correct, delete or opt out of sales or targeted advertising, we honour those rights to the extent they apply. Our global practices already described in this section 8 (no sale, no targeted advertising, minimal data, and easy deletion) mean there is no sale or advertising processing to opt out of, and exercising your rights is free of charge and without discrimination.

9. Third-Party Services and Content

The Service displays content obtained from third parties, including stock data providers, news feeds (RSS), weather services and quotation services. We do not control, endorse or warrant any third-party content, and we are not responsible for its accuracy, availability or legality. Such content is subject to the terms and privacy policies of its respective providers. By using the affected features you agree to any such terms.

10. Acceptable Use

You must not use the Service to:

  • breach any law, regulation or the rights of any person in any country;
  • store or display content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene or that you do not have the right to store;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, its infrastructure or other users' data;
  • interfere with, overload or disrupt the Service, its hosting or any third-party service it relies on;
  • automate, scrape or bulk-request the Service or its data beyond reasonable personal use.

11. Changes to the Service and These Terms

We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Service, and may update these terms, at any time. The latest version of this page always applies. Continued use of the Service after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the then-current terms.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, including for violation of these terms, abuse, or to protect the Service or other users, without liability. You remain responsible for your own data at all times, including after termination.

13. Force Majeure

We are not liable for any failure or delay in providing the Service caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to network or power failure, hosting or cloud-provider outage, fibre or undersea cable disruption, denial of service, government action, war, conflict, sanctions, pandemic, extreme weather, fire, flood or other natural events.

14. Governing Law, Jurisdiction and Severability

The Service is made available internationally. You must comply with the laws of the country, state or region in which you are located, including any restrictions on the use or import of the Service. Where you have statutory consumer rights that apply in your place of residence, those rights are not excluded, including rights you hold under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, the CCPA/CPRA or other applicable U.S. state privacy laws that cannot be limited by contract. If any provision of these terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable in any jurisdiction, that provision shall be severed and the remainder shall continue in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of that provision.

15. Contact

If you have questions, need a copy, correction or erasure of your synced data (sections 8, 8.1 and 8.2), or wish to report misuse, contact the operator of the Service who issued your licence code. Please use the subject line "Privacy Request (GDPR)" or "Privacy Request (CCPA)" as applicable so your request can be handled promptly.
